For decades, Scott Goodman built up a reputation for transforming neighborhoods through his real estate development and investment projects, committed to the kind of long-term investments and inclusive growth at the heart of the new Opportunity Zones program. When OZs became law, he knew exactly what kind of team was needed to fulfill what its creators envisioned, and brought together partners who are the best in their fields of expertise to form the Decennial Group. He serves as the founding principal of Farpoint Development.
With a lifetime of experience in real estate development focusing on investor relations, procurement of financing and equity and transaction structuring, he serves as the foundation for the company. Scott’s deep insight into projects comes from involvement at each step of the process. His practical and academic knowledge results in a track record of unending success across all asset classes and market cycles. Previous to founding Farpoint, Scott was the Co-founder to Sterling Bay, the developer of assets such as Google midwest HQ, McDonald’s global HQ, Hillshire Farm global HQ as well as offices for Uber, Gogo and many others.
After earning a Bachelor’s of Science in Economics from the University of Michigan and an MBA from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management, Scott has served as the former Board Chair and current Board Member of the PKD Foundation and Heartland Alliance. He is also a member of the Chicago Economics Club.

Shawn Clark serves as President of CRG. With over a decade in the commercial real estate industry, Shawn is responsible for providing strategic direction of the company and managing day-to-day operations. In addition, Shawn maintains an active role in deal structuring, fund and project level financing activities, development management, and asset management. Shawn earned his Master’s degree in Real Estate Finance from DePaul University and his Bachelor’s degree in Construction Science and Management from Clemson University. Shawn is the founder of Illumination, an immersive theatrical event that raises money for rare disease research and is a Co-Chair of the associate board for the Greater Chicago Food Depository.

Co-founder and Managing Partner Dave Pavlik has structured over $2 billion in renewable energy and infrastructure projects throughout his career. That expertise was key to setting up Decennial’s capital structure so that it can leverage renewable energy financing and tax credits, ensuring assets are designed for the next generation energy economy.
Dave’s years of experience in finance, management and public policy led him to serve as managing partner of 11MM Acres, developing opportunities in the energy, real estate and private equity markets with access to more than $1.5B in project and investment capital. Previous to that, Dave was the President of Trans-Lux Energy Corporation, a turnkey energy project developer and LED lighting manufacturer with sales across the United States.
He also served as the Illinois State Budget Manager where he oversaw the budgets, headcount and legislative initiatives for over 2 dozen agency budgets, including over $20B in total funding and more than 15,000 state employees. Prior to that he was the Deputy Director of the Illinois Department of Transportation, overseeing large asset infrastructure valuation. He has also advised numerous private equity firms, venture capital funds and investment banks on complex regulatory initiatives.

Head of Investments
Dan Gilman was most recently a Managing Director in the New York office of Hammond Hanlon Camp LLC where he headed the firm’s Project Finance activities. He focused on both the structuring and capital raising of public-purpose assets with a particular specialty in various forms of government and municipal capitalizations including: tax-exempt debt, tax credits, state & local grants, non-profit ownership, EB-5 financing, restructuring & all forms of public-private partnerships. Before joining Hammond Hanlon Camp LLC, Dan was a Managing Director and Head of Municipal Debt Capital Markets/Co-Head of Project Finance at Jefferies.
Prior to Jefferies, Mr. Gilman was the Co-Chief Investment Officer at Fundamental Advisors, a private equity firm focused on Distressed Municipal Debt and related Public Asset Special Situations. While at Fundamental, Mr. Gilman was responsible for the investment of over $400mm of capital and ran an Investment team of seven. He received an MBA from MIT’s Sloan School of Business with a concentration in Financial Engineering and received a BA with Honors from Wesleyan University, majoring in Political Economy.

As Head of Investor Relations, Ben oversees Decennial’s capital raising efforts and maintains existing investor relationships. He also plays a vital role in structuring and marketing the company’s various investment vehicles.
Ben has an established track record working with institutional investors, registered investment advisors, family offices and high-net-worth-individuals. He most recently served as Vice President of Investor Relations and Business Development at Origin Investments, a Chicago-based real estate investment firm, where he raised more than $350 million of investor capital and expanded the firm’s local footprint to a national one. Prior to Origin, Ben was one of the first employees at Starwood Retail Group, a subsidiary of Starwood Capital that is now one of the largest managers of regional malls in the United States.
Harris holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Real Estate and Urban Land Economics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Senior Vice President, Acquisitions
John brings over 30 years of diverse real estate experience to the team. Based out of CA, John has extensive experience as a senior real estate executive in the areas of investment, development and finance. Most recently, John has been focused on new and innovative finance structures in real estate and renewable energy.
John is the founder and President of PacWest Properties, an investment and consulting company providing development and investment services for real estate investors and owners, primarily in the Western U.S.
In 2010, John took on the role of Principal and Chief Investment Officer of Structured Finance Associates. Structured Finance Associates which provides PACE financing nationwide and has over $800 million of capital committed to the platform.
Prior to founding PacWest Properties in 2005, Mr. Krappman held senior executive positions with CommonWealth Partners in Los Angeles, and LTC Properties (NYSE:LTC) in California. During John’s tenure with these companies, he was responsible for acquisition, development, management and disposition of over $2.5 billion of real estate investments.
John has significant prior experience with a closely held family real estate construction and development business and with Wells Fargo Bank, N.A. John is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame.

Jake is a founding team member and Director of Acquisitions at Decennial Group. He works closely with Decennial’s Head of Underwriting and Head of Investments, overseeing deal intake and initial deal review while remaining heavily involved throughout the investment process.
Prior to the creation of Decennial, Jake was a Project Coordinator at Farpoint Development, managing multiple developments throughout Chicago and its surrounding suburbs. While at Farpoint, he coordinated the development team for the Burnham Lakefront site, a 100-acre, lakefront development on the south side of Chicago. He collaborated with the City of Chicago to create their bid to Amazon for the “Amazon HQ2” competition.
Jake earned a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Beth was most recently the CFO for Broadfield Capital Management where she syndicated and structured private debt and equity strategies, headed investor relations, oversaw Fund administration, ran financial operations, and directed Fund audit process.
Beth is a highly organized, analytical problem-solver who enjoys getting results efficiently and accurately. Prior to Broadfield, Beth was the Controller of a Chicago area mechanical contracting company. She managed corporate finance, accounting, bank relations, human resources, legal, and union interface responsibilities.
Beth began her career as a product specialist in Fixed Income Derivatives at both Bank of America and a JP Morgan Chase predecessor. She enjoyed working on a highly technical, math-oriented desk and helping clients optimize corporate finance decisions.
Beth earned her MBA from Northwestern University but is a Wolverine at heart. She received her BA in Economics and French from the University of Michigan. Beth is passionate about wellness and community engagement. She is the Treasurer of the Annie LeGere Foundation and is active with the National MS Society.

Steve is the Co-Founder and former CEO of the Economic Innovation Group (EIG), a bipartisan research and policy organization in Washington, D.C. focused on addressing economic inequality through the creation of a new marketplace for private equity investments in distressed communities.
Under Steve’s leadership, EIG was the architect of the $6 trillion Qualified Opportunity Zones program, the largest community investment incentive in U.S. history. EIG conceptualized the program and drafted the underlying legislation — the “Investing in Opportunity Act” — championed by Senators Tim Scott (R-SC) and Cory Booker (D-NJ), which received nearly 100 bipartisan congressional cosponsors before being passed into law in 2017.
